I wondered if many folks here were familiar with the beginnings of the Spiritualist Movement? So much of what we talk about on this list came into the open discussion it enjoys today because of what these young girls (who grew into women who led this movement) did.
The girls lived with their parents in Western New York, and they discovered one night that they could communicate with the spirit of a man who'd been murdered in their house some time before. They went on to develop these skills, performed them on stages around the world, and started the movement that is now so popular.
Their lives were tragic in their adult years. I guess that much public scrutiny with such strong gifts might cause turmoil in any life.
